Second Bowl (Backdated to Between-Act Break)

[It’s late the next morning before a message goes out across the network. She and Varian had spent a long time last night baking and eating Linzer torte, talking about the homes waiting for them and the wonder they held, the future plans they have here and there, and just letting each other know how important their friendship is. It took longer after for Kotori to wake up, so hopefully everyone was alright on their own for breakfast.]

I hope everyone’s having a good day. I just wanted to let everyone know Varian went back to his world last night. He was able to say goodbye, though, and he said that if he can he’ll come back, but he has some things he needs to do in his world first.

[Still, even if it felt more like an “until we meet again” than a “goodbye,” the hope isn’t quite enough to fully buoy her mood. Some comfort will probably be nice, either through the journals or if you find her in the castle kitchens.]

Second Shield | The Case of the Dwarven Scammer

[If you noticed Dojima’s handwriting before, it could be a bit chicken scratch- not from a lack of penmanship, but simply because his work had him writing up a lot of reports, and you had to do it quickly. This time however, his handwriting is noticeably neater and careful, trying to make sure no one can misread the information.]

Notice to All Aspects.

Within the recent months, a scam artist has been making the rounds in the Index, going after both locals and Aspects alike.

Based on description, the culprit is likely a Dwarf, who’s hair varies in colour, possibly dying it or using magic to change it.

If you or anyone you know has been involved in some sort of scam, please let either me or Eustace know; we’re currently involved in the investigation. Information on what the scam entitled, the date it occurred, the scammer's appearance, and location would be a great benefit.

[The handwriting then switches to something a little cleaner and not necessarily elegant, but neat.]

There are suspicions that there may be multiple individuals, making it a crime ring. If you think you found one, don't do anything stupid. There haven't been reports of any violent exchanges, but we don't need this to become more complicated than necessary.

However, if you do manage to capture one, bring them to the nearest law enforcement.

I came here to help the Storyteller, like they asked, but I think the storyteller should have picked somebody else. I'm gonna try being brave, though! My best buddy, Gobo, he's always doing brave things to help people. This is the sort of thing he'd do, and, well, all the things Gobo does aren't always the right thing for me, but I think this one is! And I really like helping people, too, so it's gonna work, right? I hope so. And I hope Gobo would be proud of me for trying.

Hi, there! I hope that everyone’s okay after the Story Eater attack. That was… really intense.

Anyway… I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately, and I think I’m going to go home for a little while. I want to get stronger at cooking, and that’ll take some time and practice. [And she wants to strengthen her relationships with her friends and family there…] I don’t know how long I’ll be in my world, or how much I’ll be able to remember this time, but I’ll ask to Storyteller to bring me back in a few days by Index time.

Before I go, though… what are some of your favorite foods? Are there any recipes from your homes that you miss here? What about birthdays, or holidays that aren’t celebrated in the Index?

As long as I'm stuck here, I might as well use all of you to my advantage. I've been here long enough - correction, Scrooge McDuck and I have been here long enough that no doubt he's mentioned me once or twice.

But knowing that cheap miser, I doubt he's told you the whole story. So allow me to pose a query to you all.

Let's say you have a enemy you've been fighting with for years. It's been frustrating, exhausting, and you've wasted time and money just to keep them away. They've hexed your body, mind, home, everything they can get their hands on, time and time again. They've gone after your family and friends.There's no doubt they'll be hounding you for the rest of your life. However, there is one simple way to make them go away forever and never hear from them again.

One dime.

For those of you with different money systems, think of it as the smallest, cheapest, almost-close-to-worthless amount of money you can own.

Would you or would you not hand it over so you can know peace for the rest of your days?

[Percy figures after all this time he might as well figure using the book he was given. Properly. It just takes him a bit to adjust, to learn to use it given his dyslexia. Initially, he writes in it in Greek, simply finding that easiest since that somehow still works in being easier for him than English even without his being a demigod here anymore. Though what he writes would then probably be translated so the others could understand it, or so he hopes. Otherwise this might just seem complete gibberish to others that can't understand Ancient Greek. English would take him at least twice as long with writing it all out, spelling and all.]

I'm just figuring it's probably about time I learned to use this thing properly. I'm Percy, by the way. Apparently my Essence is this Fish Prince guy or something. The journal thing is just taking me a bit (thanks dyslexia) but I'm sure I'll manage. Somehow. At least, I haven't had to actually repeat at school somehow back home. But anyway, this place seems nice enough? Mostly. I'd probably use the library more if I wasn't, you know. Dyslexic. But it seems like that will come in handy, for looking up the stories we might get involved with? Not that I'm sure how much that will help because I sure don't recall war being a thing in the Little Mermaid I remember.

Anyway. I dunno, I guess a job or something might be useful if we're going to be around for a while? I'm still figuring stuff here, but. I like the water. And I might just still be feeling restless without my usual training, without even having Riptide (my sword) with me.

That's not an invitation for Everything to start happening, by the way. I can deal with being restless if it means no dangerous Quests that almost kill me. I've done plenty of those already back home.

Greetings, all. A few new faces have shown up in the Index here, as I'm sure many have noticed; if you are one of those people, welcome.

This is no pleasant conversation, however. This is a warning. One of the newest arrivals is someone from my world, a witch named Magica De Spell. You can't miss her, she's a duck like I am with long black hair and one of the worst personalities you'll ever come across. Likely I, or perhaps the other Scrooge that also arrived recently, will be the focus of her efforts but my message here is in the event that that changes.

I know many of you are quite capable of taking care of yourselves. But Magica is sly, sneaky, and can wield immense power whenever she gets her hands on the right spell objects. For a small sample of our past encounters: I've had meteors called down on my Money Bin; our bodies have been swapped; my family has been manipulated and hypnotized multiple times; she's had dragons and demons at her disposal; gravity itself was bent at an angle; and she's implanted false histories and memories. Additionally, even if she's without her magic for one reason or another, she always has a weapon she calls "foof bombs" at her disposal. These are like the smoke bomb's more wicked cousin, in that once thrown they create a dizzying cloud that will knock you blinded and senseless for several minutes. Judging by her appearance when I saw her, her Essence is Circe herself, and I shudder to think what powers that might give her here.

So, consider this your warning in case you happen to cross her path at the wrong time (and there are very few right times). She is a powerful, tricky, manipulative villainess, and with her now being here that unfortunately makes her no longer my problem alone. I can try to field any questions, if you have them, but I can't stand idly by just knowing that she's here in the Index.

Avoid at all costs.

~HELLO PEOPLE OF THE INDEX~ This is Kokichi Oma, one of the many, many people who hopped on board and found themselves in fairy tale land. I could say more stuff about myself, but that's kind of boring. So how about we play a little game instead? First, I'll list three things about myself... I'm the leader of an underground organization back home. I go to a high school for kids who have "ultimate" talents. As in they're the best in that field. I'm a huge fan of bug watching. Now you guys get to figure out which one is the lie! Doesn't that sound like fun? And feel free to join in the fun by making up your own two truths and one lie. This way, we get to know each other better before the next great adventure! Or whatever that Storyteller guy wants us to do.
