Most of the ones I know are closer to the first one-killing people who threaten your partner and stuff like that. My own story kind of counts as one of those, I'd guess.

Though I was actually thinking of the darker Bluebeard-style ones. You ever heard of that one?

The original story's about a guy with a blue beard whose wives have repeatedly disappeared under mysterious circumstances, and his latest wife. He gives her free reign to enter any room in the house except one, but gives her a key to that room anyways. They live happily for a while, but then she starts getting more and more curious about the room, and one day while he's off on a trip she opens it and finds the corpses of all his previous wives.

Unfortunately, she also drops the key in the blood, so he finds out once he comes back. He declares that he's going to kill her, but luckily for her her brothers happen to be passing by and she manages to trick him into giving her more time so she can signal them coming, and they kill him and save her.

I guess whether or not it counts as a romance depends on the teller, and how much they focus on how they're a happy couple before shit hits the fan.

Yeah, I guess. There's some variants which focus more on how sweet and charming the guy is, though, and some of them just have the bride discover he's a demon or something instead of finding multiple dead exes.
