Hey y'all. Now that we're all back here and done with all that horsing around, I figured it's time for some talking. I don't think I know a lot of you as well as we should. And knowing each other feels like it'll make getting scenes down in the future mondo easier!

So here's some basics about me.

- My name's Finn Mertens. And my Essence is Jack, that guy who likes climbing beanstalks.
- At home, I live in the Land of Ooo with my brother, Jake the Dog. We're adventurers, so I know a lot about kicking monster's butts and jazz like that.
- Another important thing! For most of my life, I didn't really know any other humans other than myself. Just, y'know, dogs and candy people and cranky wizards. I've been meeting a lot more recently, but we haven't really spent a lot of time together. It's really cool that there's lots of humans here! But I'm not used to being around other humans, soooo sorry if I get really weird about that?
- Oh yeah, I have magic beans and also one of my arms is a magical beanstalk arm right now. It's cool.
- I think that covers the basics? But hey, ask me anything!

- Ikebukuro isn't anything special, just a normal city. We don't really have a lot of this magic stuff, just in stories and video games. But guess there are some things out there so...maybe there's more out there.
- I don't like violence or fighting, but a lot of my strength comes from my anger...sorry if I hurt anyone, working to control it. I can help with any heavy lifting if you need it, though.

Yo yo yo, Shizuo! I'll make a note of all that. Glad you got video games going back home! And sorry about the whole violence thing. If you ever need helping keeping things under control, I'll try to do my best.

As for the whole human thing? Well that's a long story. There was this big disaster a long, long time ago, and it changed the world a lot. And I guess it cut down a lot of humanity, too. So the surviving humans moved away to isolate themselves on these islands way out in the ocean. I kinda got lost when I was a baby and ended up in Ooo, so I didn't get to meet them all until recent-times.

[Wow that's...kind of like one of those deep and tragic stories you hear about for main characters in stories and stuff.]

Did you ever meet your family?

Yep, when I was just a babe!

And yeah, again, kinda. First I met my dad when I busted him out of an intergalactic prison. But that was just bad news all around. As for my mom? I found her when I made my way to the human islands, but she also uploaded herself into a computer. It still went a whole better than with Dad, especially after I convinced her not to keep me on the island or upload me too!

[There's just going to be a long stretch of "silence" as Shizuo just stares at the words before him. Only one word is managed to sprawled out in response.]

I have no idea what you even said. It made no sense.

Okay, okay. Guess I can see how it could be confusing. Let me try to break it down!

So I met both my parents eventually! My dad was in space prison, and he was a huge dink.

And my mom became a computer!

Is the ol' noggin taking it now?

But he won't get mad at him because he's still trying to wrap his brain about all this. If he just remembers that different worlds have really...really weird things about them..... .....]

No, but I'm just going to pretend like I do, anyway. But how the hell does a person become a computer?

Candy people? Like, people made out of candy?

Well I'm not the guy to ask about how all the science and junk works. All I know is, it's like she uploaded her mind into a computer. Now she's got a buncha robot bodies she can use!

Pretty much. People made of candy, candy that is people, however you wanna slice it man.

Did all the humans in your world do this or just her?

[finnality]

Nah, it was just here. It was a real donked up situation. This nasty plague spread along the island and was taking people out big-time. So she was a Helper- like a doctor, and the plague got all the other doctors. She was the only one left who could make a different, but that bad bad sickness could end it all just like that. So she just, left her body behind for the best way to take care of everyone.

[....Oh. Oh. WELL. THIS IS NOT....WHAT HE...EXPECTED AT ALL. Now he feels terrible and hastily scrawls—]

It's cool, it's cool, no damage taken bro. I'm proud that she was able to help a lot of people. And I'm still glad that she still exists in some way and that I could get to meet her.

She sounds like a strong person. Glad you could meet her.

But your world sounds...interesting. This place must not seem that different for you.

Are you sure they weren't just, you know, monsters or something? That just sounds really weird.

Yeah. I guess this place doesn't feel too diff to me. The only thing that's really weird and out of place is having so many humans around. But that's a good problem to have!

Dude, no. I punch monsters in the face on the regular, I know a monster when I see them. And the candy people? They ain't monstery at all. There's nothing weird about them. They're just peeps like you and me. Peeps are peeps!

Even here the humans are a bit weird... And not all of them really all that human.

But guess if you wanted to learn something about them, I could try to help? Don't know how much I could try and tell you, though.

Huh. I guess that's fair, if they're just like regular people. I only really know of Heartless who would look strange like that, and they always tried to attack me.

Yeah, you make a good point! That kinda makes me feel a little less nervous about talkin' them up, thanks.

Man, that sounds so messed up! But with a name like Heartless, I guess that's just what they're all about. Then again, I've even met a straight-up heart itself that could attack the heck out of ya!

Y'know, you're right. When it comes to pep talks, it doesn't matter what kinda mouth it comes out of. Just that the words are being made! See, you're already boss at this!

But human, robot, alien, or whatever, people are people. Just treat everyone like you would anyone else.

[Having no real heart of his own and the nature of hearts in his world, he is shocked and surprised to hear this.]

Yep! Well actually it's not like a normal thing, like at all.

It only happened to this one guy I know, and it was because one of his experiments blew up on his face. His heart walked on out of his body, called himself Ricardio, and started causing trouble!

That almost sounds like how Heartless are made. What happened to it?

He's still out there somewhere. We just beat 'im up whenever he causes trouble, no bigs.
