Hellooo dull folks of the Index!

I'm just putting a call out that Happy Hours at the Hydeout have been expanded to everyday, from dusk to dawn! For those who want a little more excitement in their lives before returning to their own boring ones. [Did he tell his employees about this? Probably not.]

Oh, and if you're feeling particularly violent, there's an arena downstairs. I expect to be entertained if you decide to use it.

Good afternoon, everyone. If the local calendars are correct, we should be in early July at this point.

Was there some important holiday coming up soon? I think the festivities included sweets? Cards? May or may not have involved gifts... Definitely some well wishes, if people remembered. It wasn't too important of a holiday to most, but for some reason it bore much significance to me... Could someone please help me figure out what it is?

Okay, I nearly forgot about this for a while now, but it appears that my birthday is just a few days from now. It’s on June 18, but it was originally placed as June 5 back home.

In case if anyone is curious, back in where I was from in my world, we had originally used a different calendar system from most of the world which has us behind by 13 days at most. Long story short, the new people ruling over my country had decided to change it to match up with the rest of the world. Since I had no memory of my past by that point, I nearly forgot about the day I was born until some time ago before coming to the Index.

But I have a problem right now: I just don’t know how to celebrate it without anyone else from home. Does anybody here have any suggestion for me to consider?

For those who had to play the role of the opposite gender, did you transform too or just cross-dress?

Because for some reason, I got turned into a girl when I had to play Clarabelle in a scene.

I guess it was my turn to have my essence changed 'cause I'm Loki now. Quite the upgrade from folk hero to norse god.

Though I do have a problem. The essence change gave me a bit of a growth spurt so I don't have any spare clothes that fit me anymore. Should I try to learn how to fix clothes, or go somewhere to get new clothes?

[He's especially bummed that dress he wore before is now too small. He liked that dress.]

[This being her very first story she's been thrust into since getting here and basically being Troy (not that Troy) walking in with pizza with some people going nuts... yeah, she's gotta ask here:]

Is this sort of thing— with people trying to hurt or kill people, I mean— is that normal in these stories?

[Look, if she's going to be here and feel safe, she has to know these things. It's also a good way for her to gauge what may happen if she becomes someone in a story like others have. If this isn't normal (or close to normal)... maybe she's in the clear and can feel a little safer here.]

Or is this just sorta... different from normal?

[Ren's writing isn't as neat as before. It's shaky like if someone was writing while feeling really upset. That said, it is still easily readable.]

Goro Akechi is gone. I found his letter.

Just letting others know for those who might have ~~been friends~~ known him.

[Then there appears to be a wet spot. Like if someone had scanned something that, had gotten wet but then dried later, on a scanner connected to a computer.]

[He realized a tear had dropped and quickly wrote the next sentence while trying to will himself not to start crying completely.]

Note to self, don't write while cutting onions.

[A total lie if one were check up on him in person.]

To whom this may concern,

As some of you might know, my memory is nothing like it once was. While this journal has been useful for keeping records of the present and other important notes, I don't remember too much of my past outside of a series of unfortunate events I will not disclose to the public for personal reasons. I do know I wanted to invent something wonderful to benefit my world and make something of myself, but the accident that caused my memory to fail also made that dream impossible in my world.

Here, I have a second chance. As strange and perilous as this world can be, I'm grateful that the Storyteller reached out to ask me for help. Hopefully, I can eventually remember enough to finish my invention in the Index or make something new out of what I can recall of it, but even if that never happens I'm still able to contribute something beneficial by helping to restore the stories.

Which brings me to the situation at hand. I'm not sure what exactly caused it, but the current state of the story and how it’s affected people has me fearing for my life. Since I don't know if I even have any family or friends back home, I may as well write an open letter to you all. Thank you for giving me a chance to redeem myself, and I hope my contributions thus far were helpful in the long run.
